At St John’s, we take pride in being a welcoming and inclusive school, creating a sense of family within our community. Our primary focus is on providing an excellent education while nurturing each child’s individual potential. We believe that every child, regardless of their background, can achieve excellence.

Our school is dedicated to offering a safe and positive environment where children feel valued, heard, and cared for. Christian values form the foundation of our approach, guiding everything we do. We emphasise strong partnerships with parents and carers, viewing them as essential contributors to their children’s education. We look forward to regular opportunities to connect, celebrate successes, discuss progress, and explore how families can engage in their child’s learning journey.

Supported by dedicated Academy Councillors, leading our committed team of staff who work to provide the best possible education for our pupils is a privilege. We are proud to serve the local community and represent the families that make our school unique. In the midst of ongoing changes, our mission remains the same – ‘Trust in God, Trust Yourself. Aspire, Believe, Achieve!’

WELCOME BACK!
We hope you have all had a wonderful summer break! We are looking forward to seeing the children tomorrow for what will be an amazing year. Further updates will follow but we wanted to to remind you all of our uniform expectations as we start a new academic year at St John's.

UNIFORM
Please be reminded of uniform policy and expectations. All children at St John’s are expected to wear a school uniform. We want our children to be proud to wear their school uniform as it helps to promote our ethos, provides a sense of belonging and sets the tone for the importance of their education.

Our uniform consists of:
• Royal blue sweatshirt/cardigan.
• Sky blue/white polo shirt.
• Grey trousers/skirts/pinafore dresses.
• Blue/white checked summer dress.
• Girls – grey tights or white socks.
• Boys – black/grey socks.
• Plain black shoes/trainers/plimsolls (trainers must be plain black)

Children are not permitted to wear makeup, fake nails, fake eyelashes or any jewellery such as loopy earrings, bracelets or necklaces. Earrings should be simple studs and not worn on PE days. Hair should be tidy, preferably tied up with a small tie in school colours and no extreme hair styles.

PE KIT

• Black plimsolls or trainers; black shorts.
• Plain-white t-shirt.
• In winter months, children are encouraged to wear long plain black bottoms (tracksuit bottoms/leggings) and a royal blue hoody.
• No jewellery (earrings, studs, bracelets, necklaces etc.) are to be worn for PE lessons.

Children will be able to come to school in their PE kit on PE days. Children must wear a school PE kit only on these days. PE days will be sent out on Friday.

Picture examples of both sets of uniform can be viewed here: https://www.stjohnsceacademy.co.uk/school-uniform/

Logos / initials are not insisted upon so uniform can be purchased at many supermarkets, other clothing shops and second-hand retailers. Darlington Local Authority in Partnership with Darlington Cares operates a School Uniform Exchange which is located on the ground floor of Feethams car park behind Boyes.

Uniform with the school logo and the option to add your child’s initials, can be ordered through Darlington based company, ALR Embroidery. Further details can be found on their website.
